Meet Rokibul Hassan Chowdhury, better known as Picklu Chowdhury, a Filmmaker, entrepreneur, and social worker with a name that resonates with passion, creativity, and dedication.
Picklu Chowdhury was born into a family of honor and respect. His mother, Mrs. Jahanara Begum, and father, Mr. Helal Uddin Chowdhury, is revered freedom fighter who fought valiantly during the Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971. Inspired by the ideology of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Picklu Chowdhury has taken it upon himself to carry forward the visionary leader’s dreams of a secular and prosperous nation.
From an early age, Picklu Chowdhury was raised in a culturally rich environment that nurtured his love for music. He developed a deep passion for the guitar and honed his skills under the guidance of esteemed mentors such as Riton Adhikari Rintu and Sazzad Arefin. His affinity for music would later play a significant role in his creative journey. He pursued his higher education in Computer Science and Engineering at the prestigious East-West University.
Since 2009, Picklu Chowdhury has been working in the media industry as a director, undertaking various projects. He has successfully established his own production house and advertising agency, namely the Creative Company, Frog Technology Ltd., Frog Studio, and Frog Creator. Currently, he holds the position of Managing Director at Frog Technology Ltd.
Today, Picklu Chowdhury’s Creative Company is renowned for its exceptional work in producing advertisements, TV dramas, and documentaries that touch upon important societal issues. His productions are known for their thought-provoking content and impactful storytelling, along with his keen eye for detail and a commitment to excellence.
Beyond his creative pursuits, Picklu Chowdhury is deeply committed to social causes. He has actively participated in numerous national progressive processions and served as a frontline member of Gono Jagoran Mancha in 2013. His dedication to social work is evident through his involvement in various organizations, such as the Directors Guild, Bloggers and Online Activists Forum (BOAN), Advertising Filmmaker Association (ADF), and Bangladesh Association of Advertising Producers (BAAP).
Picklu Chowdhury is presently a member of the Director’s Guild and has served as the Publication Secretary for two terms. He has also held the position of Joint Secretary in the past. Currently, he holds the position of a member of the Bangladesh Film Directors Association.
One of Picklu Chowdhury’s notable achievements is his film “Dawal,” which was selected among the 20 full-length feature films that received grants from the government for the budget year 2020-2021. This recognition is a testament to his talent and dedication to the craft of filmmaking.
